Every year since 1988, December 1st is celebrated as World AIDS Day. This day commemorates the deceased who passed away due to this disease and it aims to spread awareness about AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome), a condition caused due to the spreading of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus).
World AIDS Day was first initiated by WHO (World Health Organization) with an aim to educate people all over the globe about this disease and ways to prevent and control its spread.
Every year this global health day marks the celebration of World AIDS Day with appropriate themes to raise awareness about AIDS and its prevention, treatment, care & support. This year, the theme of World AIDS day is ‘
Know Your Status’. The theme is in line with the estimation that there are about 9.4 million people living in the world who are infected with HIV who do not know their status.
